Experimental rock/dream pop band EEP, who received critical praise for their first two albums Death of a Very Good Machine (2020) and Winter Skin (2021), have a new album called You Don’t Have To Be Prepared coming out on November 1, 2024. You can listen to the singles "Ghost" and "Always" here on the Hogar Records website.
The album is inspired by a tape that the band found inside a 1979 Hammond Cougar organ. The tape included an audio message from the late 70s that a middle-aged woman named Anne in Clay Center, Kansas left for her sweetheart in El Paso, Texas. She’s exiting her old life and entering a new one, jumping across the country and into her next chapter.
Two members had recently left EEP and the band were faced with a new line-up, and no plan of what to do for their next album. The tape they found offered the sign they were searching for. You Don’t Have To Be Prepared is a concept album that explores Anne’s journey and incorporates dream pop and experimental rock into their shoegaze foundation.
